Dreaming of a Distant Star

from Amidst the Dark (Bandcamp Exclusive Version) by Phill Kovach

/

about

The wanderer finds safety on a nearby planet. He looks up to the shy as he did at the beginning of his journey and sees a familiar star that used to be home. It’s distant, but it’s bright. The light synths and piano beckon to the hero. The violins and female voice with their pleasant melody remind the hero of the comfort of the life he used to know. Then the tone of the piece changes. The theme from Opportunity Awaits the Bold returns in the vocal and piano as the hero vows to not turn back. He knows that the other star that is out there for him holds more for him than he could ever imagine. Even though this part of his journey is done. His voyage home is just beginning.

lyrics

Sometimes, when I feel alone, I'll go outside and watch the sunset.

As the sun disappears over the horizon, I see a familiar star fade in through the evening sky.

I can feel this star beckoning, begging me to turn back and come home.

Back to the familiarity, back to the comfort and safety

I can't go back, not now and not ever.

I know that there's another star out there, a brighter star, piercing through the darkness.

Waiting to be discovered.

Waiting for me to come home.

My odyssey is just beginning
